The Charlotte Chamber's Executive Committee has elected Jim Turner to serve as Second Vice Chair of the organization. That appointment means he will lead the chamber in 2012 as chair.

The announcement was made this morning by incoming Chair David Darnell at the Fall Planning Retreat in Pinehurst, NC.

Jim Turner is group executive of Duke Energy and president and chief operating officer of its U.S. Franchised Electric and Gas business.

He currently serves on the board of directors of EnerNOC Inc. He is vice chairman of the board of the Electric Power Research Institute. Turner also serves as Chairman of the board of the Charlotte Center City Partners.

Turner received a bachelor of science degree from Ball State University and a juris doctor degree from the Indiana University School of Law. He and his wife, Leah, have two daughters and a son.

Jim Turner's year as Charlotte Chamber Chair will follow David Darnell's in 2010 and Pat Rodgers' in 2011.
