The winner of the annual Charlotte Chamber Skyline Photo Contest is a panoramic shot photographed by Larry Harwell on a clear evening last February.

Harwell, a professional photographer with more than 30 years of experience, is the owner and president of Carolina Digital Photo Group.

The image was taken with a Canon 50D camera as he stood on the eleventh floor balcony of a Dilworth condominium. He digitally combined three separate images to capture the subtle hues of the sunset in the sky and reflected from the buildings.

Harwell's image was one of 130 entries for this year's contest. He will receive a cash prize of $500, and his winning image will be used as the official skyline photograph for the Charlotte Chamber for one year.
