Internet security firm selects
Charlotte for U.S. headquarters

SmoothWall Ltd., a UK-based internet security firm, has opened its US headquarters in Charlotte. The company recently leased space in SouthPark executive suites operated by Regus and now has two full-time employees.

Known best for its intelligent web filtering solutions, SmoothWall plans during 2009 to hire five additional employees in sales and technical support positions based in Charlotte. Further expansion of US operations is anticipated in view of continued growth in the internet filtering market.

The Charlotte Chamber assisted SmoothWall during its evaluation of US locations and also helped company principals identify office space options for the US start-up. Honorary British Consul, Michael Teden, and Martyn Johnson of the North Carolina Department of Commerce also actively supported SmoothWall during its city search process.
