U.S. Small Business Administration

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) provides financial and management assistance to help small business owners and entrepreneurs start, run and grow their businesses. The SBA North Carolina District office provides services to the 100 counties in North Carolina. SBA programs include:

  • Financing through guaranty loans to small businesses unable to secure financing on reasonable terms through normal lending channels. A variety of loan programs offer loan amounts from $5,000 - $2 million for start-ups and existing businesses.
  • Entrepreneurial counseling and training through its network of resource partners: SCORE, Small Business & Technology Development Center (SBTDC) and Women's Business Centers.
  • Federal government contracting assistance with tools and programs to help small firms identify opportunities and compete for contracts with U.S. government civilian agencies and the military.

The SBA's Web site includes a training calendar that lists workshops, events and training classes to assist the business community.
