Profile: 2008 Manufacturers Council Chair
Joe Price has been active in the Manufacturers Council for several years. In his current role with Duke Energy, Joe has regular interface with a cross section of some of the largest manufacturing and commercial businesses in the greater Metro Charlotte Area. He has heard first hand the many ongoing challenges facing manufacturers and industry and observed what many successful businesses have done not only to survive, but also to find their niche in a very competitive global marketplace.
Joe began his career with Duke Energy after graduating from North Carolina State University with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He has held a number of roles with Duke in engineering, operations and customer service at various locations throughout the Carolinas during his more than 30 years of service.
He is a registered professional engineer in both North and South Carolina and has been a state officer in the Professional Engineers of North Carolina (PENC). He was one of the charter board members for the Educational Foundation for PENC and had responsibilities for raising funds to establish endowed scholarships.
Away from work, Joe can be found playing golf, riding a road bike, following N.C. State athletics or spending time with his family. An avid golfer, Joe has had the opportunity to play golf with the likes of Nick Price, Chad Campbell, Jay Haas and Gil Morgan. His cycling interest has him riding approximately 6,000 miles a year and participating in the time trials at Lowe's Motor Speedway. He also participates in numerous 100-mile events throughout the year including the very challenging Assault on Mt. Mitchell. Joe currently is vice president of the Carolinas Cycling Time Trial Association that organizes the bicycling time trial series at the Speedway. Joe is a resident of Concord and is married to Jeri Darr Price. They have two daughters and a son.
